Perhaps even more than "Frankenstein," the "King Kong" story touches some essential psycho-sexual-horror chord in us. Without Wray, it would have been just another dead monkey (I know!) story, though. Neither the wonderfully sexy Jessica Lange in the 70's nor the acceptable Naomi Watts this year comes close.
