Hey there.I got up just a couple of hours ago. I worked until 2 a.m. getting our "Millennium Extra" edition out, and then sat around visiting and drinking champagne until the presses rolled. So I didn't get home until 3 a.m. and have now slept later than I have in years.
We had the television on in the newsroom and at every hour all through the day and night a crowd would gather in front of the set to see the next time zone welcome the year. It was so amazing. But I did think the "Discover Card" greeting was about the most lacking in class that I've ever seen. I would NEVER have a Discover card now. What moron thought THAT was a good idea?
I thought the Washington, D.C., celebration was nice -- not spectacular, but worthy. San Francisco I liked a lot, but I don't think anyone outdid Paris for urban beauty and London for impressive use of flash explosives. Simply incredible. I kept worrying about all the asthmatics in the crowd, however.
It's a lovely day today way up here at the top of the Laramie Range, and I'm off to walk my doggies in the sunshine.
Happy Day!
