It should relieve your mind, Ebbie--it is scary, but it is a "what if..." scenario--the two most significant components are not there, and we don't know that they ever will be there.

When Shanghaiceltic says "If, and I think it is when the jump is made" he presumes that the genetic reassortments that would allow this to happen are inevitable--from my review of the variety of informational sites(and not just lately, I've been following this for quite a while now), including the one I've posted above, there is no one among the scientists who work with this stuff thinks it is inevitable, nor even necessarily likely--it just that it may be possible, so they are keeping an eye on it.

I am more concerned with the Flu I've got now, and the fact that it is making the rounds and that every one but the disease folks seems to know about it--
