I followed with interest the rescue of the eight dolphins displaced by Katrina. They would have found it impossible to survive in the wild after becoming completely habituated to people.
The Russian Navy has released its trained dolphins from service, but are having trouble finding enough places to take and care for them.

Unfortunately, it will be impossible to place all the recovered pets from New Orleans. There are so many of them. One dog has been adopted by a family here in western Canada, so some are being placed far afield. But all too few, I'm afraid, will find homes.
