Yes--that's another thing to check. Should have mentioned it first. How does the phone line sound? Dialup uses the same frequencies that we use when speaking, so if the line is noisy to your ear, call the phone company to correct it. When you get DSL then it shifts into a different freqency range and (in theory) doesn't interefere with speaking.
