Thread Name: BS: Saving Left Behind Pets
Subject: RE: BS: Saving Left Behind Pets
How could the collection of idiots not realized that people would not evacuate because of their pets? I certainly knew that...but there are great problems with having pets in shelters, and I hope that since it is now being done they are segretated into pet and nonpet shelters. There will be serious problems unless there are no shortages of anything...constant noise, filth, disease, danger from bites...and some pets are birds...what a great way for bird flu to take hold...children will be attacked...and what about the animals that are dangerous to start with? Pit bulls etc....and the ones that aren't dangerous at home but milling around with hundreds of other animals, some of whom are predators and some are prey for them..like kitty with aforementioned birds...under conditions of overcrowding etc....If/since they have decided to do this, there had better be vetinary technicians and/or animal control people at each shelter to deal with any problems via tranquilizers or whatever is needed both for pets and their owners and their potential victims. Think of the superdome situation with 2,000 cats, 4,000 dogs, 27 goats, 14 pythons, 27 alligators, 200 rats, 300 gerbils, 3 llamas and 94 chickens and 424 parakeets. Good luck.
