This will be the fourth time in three years that I've been in Washington DC. Each time, when I see the 'Sign up as a Volunteer' sheets on the desks, it makes me feel like signing up and staying for a year. The granite and marble buildings in the public part of the city (it's been years since I was in the residential areas) just glow. I love the architecture, and the heady feel of history.

It's just too bad that the choices we make rule out other choices.
