Ron...Bush 'may' decide to go for a 55 vote assoc. justice, with a split along party lines....that's what it would take to get Gonzales in. Many conservatives don't like him either. His only 'virtue' is being Bush's buddy. Maybe Bush is willing to have a loud, rancorous confirmation process if he thinks he can hold all the Republican votes, but he could lose big time trying it and cost the party a lot.
