There is no way that such small wires could carry enough voltage to harm you.
Are you aware that the current may be more important when thinking of the wires and if you have a higher voltage you may use thinner wire to carry the same wattage? Would W=I^2R mean anything to you? They don't (at least in the UK) have such high voltages on the distribution like pylons because a high voltage needs a thicker wire you know.
