Unfortunately, there seems to be some precendent for first-timers:
Among the other justices for whom the high court bench was their first judgeship were: Lewis Powell, Arthur Goldberg, Earl Warren, Tom Clark, Hugo Black, William Douglas, Felix Frankfurter and Louis Brandeis.
She's been called a "pit bull in size six shoes." She sure could use a tone-down-the-black-eyeliner-and-red-lipstick makeover!
The good news is there are some conservative groups who are uneasy with her nomination as well as some Democrats.
