Thanks to John Gorrie! I remember when we'd buy a big block of ice for our Fourth-of-July picnic, put it in a tub and bury it in sawdust, cover that and put it in the cellar so we'd have ice through the day. And I still have the tall wooden barrel which we used to fill with dry ice around the ice cream freezer, take turns cranking until the incomparable ice cream was done. They don't make it like that anymore- in more ways than one!!! Jean
