I remember going to O'Donoughues (can't spell at this time of night) to meet Ronnie Drew (I was the Dubliner's first roadie in 1967). It turned out Joe was there on a visit from America .. the first time I'd seen him in about ten years. No one would take my money for drinks as Joe had told Mary not to accept my money .. he had covered it. I had helped him in London years before. A real gentleman with a long memory.
