Thread Name: BS: Pit Bull for Supreme Court
Subject: RE: BS: Pit Bull for Supreme Court
So--Bush didn't pick Gonzales (or Garza) after all. I went out on a limb and Bush sawed it off. Not very nice of him. Gee, I suppose that means I'll lose a few subscribers to my newsletter. Ah well, them's the breaks.

It turns out I overestimated Bush's political acumen, something they said couldn't be done.

It sure seems he missed a great opportunity to steal a march on the Democrats and complicate their lives. Gonzales could have been put forward as a self-made man. Bush, I believe, speaks un poquito Spanish, which could have helped cement the connection with the fastest growing ethnic group, by far, in the US, as well as give Bush bragging rights on the first Hispanic (and second generation Mexican, at that. ).

But that's all gone now.

So now conservatives are unhappy--"betrayal of the conservative pro-family voters" per Eugene Delgaudio, president of Public Advocate.

Sounds as if Harriet Miers may be John Roberts, Jr.--basically conservative, but an unknown quantity in a lot of areas.

But, it's OK--Jon Stewart has assured us there is no Arabian horse association linked to Miers--Bush picked her as Texas Lottery Commissioner.

So the Supreme Court will be in fine hands.
