Widely read author, and prominent barrister, John Mortimer ("Rumpole of the Bailey" volumes) defended the Sex Pistols on obscenity charges with regard to their album, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols." QC Mortimer produced witnesses who were able to show that 'bollocks' was an English term which at one time meant 'priest,' and thet in the album title the word meant nonsense, although it also was a slang term for testicles or balls.

Although without musical talent, the group was notorious for a couple of years.
