Gary T.'s description is accurate. They're also mostly Southern, warm-lovin' little critters. I grew up in Michigan and never heard of them, much less experienced their effect (which is HELL). My first close encounter was on a birding trip in Virginia. Once you've met these l'il guys, you'll never forget them!
