Thread Name: Hanging instruments on the wall?
Subject: RE: Hanging instruments on the wall?
My dad was a welder by trade. He designed a lazy-susan type stand on which he hung his mando, fiddle and bow, and banjo. It stood in his music room right beside his 4 track recorder and chair, so they were ready-to-hand to practice. He also took it with him on gigs as it made it easy to switch instruments whilst playing. It was quite ingenious, really.

I thought about hanging the fiddle and my dulcimer but we have so much dust and dryness in this high desert, I know they are better protected in their cases. We also have wide temperature ranges and swamp coolers which add humidity for a good ninth months of the year. I have one of those little moisture absorber packs in my fiddle case.

I do have a plucked psaltery and a very inexpensive baritone uke sitting in an antique rocker, just two-year old grandson height so that he can pluck them. He gets the uke down and plays it across his lap. His cat, on the other hand, jumps up in the chair and plucks it, very loudly, with her teeth!
