similarly Belper folk club a few nights ago was absolutely terrific.
And he must have easily pulled enough punters to pay the fee.

I think people ARE waking up to the fact that we have something pretty special in Jack Hudson.

The problem I suspect lies in the fact that in his hay day - there were two really influential folk journalists in the UK, Karl Dallas and Colin Irwin and I can't remember either of them writing about Jack. Also it was the time of the great traddy/contemporary face off of the 1970's and people just couldn't get their heads round the fact, that here was a bloke who could play Americana better than most Americans.

Nowadays people are a bit more open minded. if there is a good melodeon player or a good ragtime guitarist - they would be welcome most places and the delineations that existed at one time don't seem to bug people so much. It is more of a meritocracy nowadays.
