Thread Name: Halloween jig problem
Subject: RE: Halloween jig problem
Can't find the purple lights.
Can't post the MIDI either. However, if anybody who doesn't do ABC wants to play the Halloween jig, they can go to JC's Tunefinder and print the GIF.
I found that the jig isn't very blood-curdling as it stands, so I entered it into Noteworthy as a MIDI file, then I changed it from the key of D to the key of C (Am, really.) I will be playing the tune with friends, including our guitarist. Putting it in Am gives her the chance to use the deep, beautiful chords of Am and Em.
The tune still seemed to need something spooky, so I tried ornaments. It works. To make it sound like Halloween, add grace notes to the longer notes. Have the grace notes be one step above or below the long note, whichever sounds right to you.
For example, before the A of the first note, flick in a tiny G#. Instinct will tell you where to put these. Have fun.
