I'm really amazed at how much good this weekend did me, and my friend Maria says the same thing. I work in a very corporate environment - have to for the time being mainly because my son needs the insurance coverage and I need to be in a big company. Sometimes I feel so drained, and it seems like the big impersonal corporation just overwhelms me. I come home and don't even feel like singing a song or picking up an instrument. But at the Getaway I found myself coming back to life - everything seemed so "real". The great thing about folk music is that it's plain and simple and very human. At work everything seems complicated and abstract. It was good to get a dose of humanity and simplicity. Now I feel like singing again.
