I have also heard a verse that goes:

Mother, Father, dig my grave
Dig it with a golden spade
Bring some friends and a mourning dove
To show I died for love

***

That sounds like a version of Turtledove-

"Go dig my grave both wide and deep
Put a marble stone at my head and feet
In the middle of my grave put a turtledove
To show to the world that I died for love."

That particular version is sung by Custer LaRue- great song, by the way.

Also, does anyone know where I might find written music for "Rose, Rose?" It sounds beautiful, and I just love the words.
