Dr Gordon Bok,

to the best of his own knowledge and reckoning,

was born

10/31/1939.

And through his good graces, we are now able to reveal one of folkdom's deepest mysteries: just exactly what Kagan meant when he said to Wind, "You back too far, you'll have to clear. You know that."

The Research Division had spent many years in a Great Unknown as to the exact meteorological impact. Dr. Bok clarifies this for us:

        When the wind threatened to 'back,' it meant to shift in a
        counter-clockwise direction. Kagan reminded it that if it
        backed around very far west of North (especially into the
        North West) it would lose its moisture, (i.e., the low pressure
        area would have moved off to the East) and, with no rain or fog
        the weather would clear up.
