Trick or treating was never a cultural catch on in Aust when I was a kid - and nowadays with all the fuss about certain nasty persons who should supposedly be in jail for the rest of their life (or put to death - but we abolished the death penalty) possibly living in communities, it is unlikely to catch on because of the 'stranger danger' furore.

Interestingly, in the last couple of weeks Queensland has been having a rash of several news items and warnings about a couple of active guys in cars trying to pick up young children - all the children have run away and thus been safe.
