Once again the ostensible wants and needs of the oil industry trumps all other concerns on the planet.

We supposedly had an "energy crisis" back in the 70s and there was talk of finding other sources of energy for our growing needs. You'd think they'd have shown a thimbleful of progress in that direction in over 30 years.
