In reference to Johnny Mercer's "I'm an Old Cowhand", a friend says he remembers (vaguely) a straightforward song that this parodies (where presumably the singers legs are bowed, etc.). I find no reference to this alleged song on the net. What I do find indicates that Mercer was poking fun at cowboy wannabees.

Is this a take-off on a serious song, or is my friend mistaken?
