In years past I gave warnings about being "too open" with strangers met through the net.

On today's news-wire is another

warning

since 9-11, we are not living in the same cyber-world-cowboy-frontier. The article is regarding a double murder/suicide by a 19 year old who had posted hateful/frustrated/angry comments to an "Ausbergers (high functioning autistic) Syndrom" support forum. Backup your own personal copy of the MC and DT ... in the future it might not be worth the risk of losing the house, job, and kid's education fund ... because someone "demands" freedom of speech on your family's roof-top.

EXCERPTS

"What, if anything, should Web site gatekeepers do when users post threatening messages online?

"Internet law experts generally agree there is no legal onus on site-owners or users to notify police.

"Still, ethicists say operators should try to alert authorities if they believe a user is serious about committing harm.

"In recent years, a handful of chat room users who published violent messages have been prosecuted...legal experts say.
