Thread Name: ADD: I'm an Old Cowhand (from the Rio Grande)
Subject: RE: I'm an Old Cowhand - origin?
Parody of the 'singing cowboy' was popular at the time Johnnie Mercer wrote the song. There is another one I know called 'The west aint what it used to be'.

The old corral is now a parking place,
For fifty cents you get a tiny space,
You turn and twist and bend 'er,
And bust your new suspender,
And throw your neighbours fender in his face.
