To win dear Mother's favours
And Bunnhabain bring chauvinists
Old nationalist ravers,
I cannot try to condescend
With vague important airs
And I won't go down to the nation's ends
To dredge up arms from bears.
But I will stay beside our Mom
Through slow times and frenetic
And offer her my silly lines
And musings all poetic.
Then let who still must brag brag more
And make assertions royal,
While we who really love our Mom
Stay here at home, and toil.
