I had an aquaintance who died at age 35. It turned out he was by himself and trying out that asphyxia trick while masturbating--they found him with the plastic bag over his head. It was difficult to find out the story because the police and his coworkers (he was a newspaper reporter who did a half-way decent job) clearly knew but implied there was something they weren't saying. An old friend of his told me some time later. Very very sad.
