Joy- thanks for your personal alert... Throughout my (long) life I have heard most of these verses, but not the, "You can depend on me" chorus. I would guess that these words and the addition of this as a chorus must be be newest part. There is such a flexibility in gospel music, which seems to be one of its natural features, that I think it's impossible to assign one original source to this song. My best guess!   Jean
