Oh Mother, How Pretty the Moon is Tonight

When at Night I go To Sleep (from the Hansel & Gretel operetta)

Sleep my Love and Peace Attend Thee (All through the Night)

Sleep, Baby, Sleep

The Lion Sleeps Tonight (no, really!)

Hush Little Baby, Don't Say a Word

We are passing our love of music on to our twenty-two month old daughter - a bedtime tradition is a cuddle with Mama in the big rocking chair and a choice of songs. Nursery rhymes, children's Bible songs, folk songs, original compositions - she gets them all. We also sing throughout the day to her and make up words to familiar tunes, so that her 'life is a musical'! She now sings many of these songs to herself, delightfully, after being put to bed, or during the day while playing with her toys.

This morning she decided to vary one of her favorites and put her own name in: "Hush 'ittle Kaf'rine, don' say a woo'd, Dadda gonna buy oo a...book!" OK, so it didn't rhyme - but she was on key!
