If US citizens are getting disturbed, they should be. I've been involved in a futures thinktank recently, and it is estimated that by 2010 the US will be in the beginnings of a post-petroleum economy -- and because of a lack of emphasis on education (especially in math, engineering, and science) will be in decline, "losing" to China and India (who are on a collision course, in a sense).
