No one has taken Paul Hellyer seriously since 1968, when he ran against Pierre Trudeau for the leadership of the Liberal Party and lost humiliatingly. Furious at being so thoroughly dumped, he resigned from the Liberals and formed his own party, Action Canada ( for which I signed up because his son, the cutest boy in my Latin class, was handing out application forms). I can't remember anything in particular about its platform except that it didn't include bilingualism or levitation.
