Hi everyone!
Nowell Sing We Clear will be performing at West Chester University on Sunday, December 4 at 4:00 p.m. This is the third year for their performance here, but I don't think word has gotten out very well in the larger Philly/Wilmington area. If you haven't heard them, you'll be in for a treat - John Roberts and Tony Barrand join forces each year with Fred Bruenig and Andy Davis for a pageant of traditional Midwinter carols, songs, and tunes - including a traditional (and hilarious) Kentucky mummers play.
This is the thirty-first (!) year of their touring together. I remember going to hear them as a child and learning their versions of the old carols. (I was in high school before I found out that there was a slow and churchy version of "The Holly and the Ivy.") While not a children's concert, per se, their performance is always very accessible to children.
The concert in West Chester is a fundraiser for the West Chester University Library, and will take place in the Sykes Student Union Theater at 110 Rosedale Avenue in West Chester. Tickets are $20 at the door; $15 for seniors and $5 for children and West Chester University students with ID. For information you can e-mail Dick Swain .
I've noticed their schedule seems limited this year - but if you live in New Hampshire, Vermont, or upstate New York you may be able to catch them. Click here for the Nowell Sing We Clear webpage.
I hope to see some Mudcatters at the West Chester show!
