I have a friend who lost a part of his tongue, had a good-sized chunk taken out of his neck, and a small spot on his larynx treated with radiation, all cancerous. He stopped smoking for a few months after the second surgery, but is now back at it, full-time and full-bore. (Do you think it might be a bit addictive?) It was his choice to make, and he's made it. That's a given. We don't discuss it at all.
