The conviction rate of 5.6 % seems incredibly low to me (even when corrected to the 5.8 % that the other newspapers report).

So I did some quick(re)search:
The conviction rate for rape in Germany is 27 % (for better comparison: the conviction rate for robbery is 37 %). Those 73 % not convicted for rape are often still convicted for the crime ('assault' for instance) though for some technical reason it may not be called a conviction for rape.

In comparison to that he British figure looks wrong. At least that's what I hope for I would hate it if that figure was even remotely correct.
