Those with a real interest in a thread can apply a "trace" so that it will stay handy on their personal page.

The only suggestion I'd make for a possible 'cat update is that the only place you can click on "trace" is in the thread listing. It might be helpful occasionally if you could tag a thread to be traced from inside the thread, perhaps with a button added in the header(?).

Now, if someone gives you a link to a thread that you find interesting, about the only way to trace it is to post something so the thread comes up in the listing, and go to the listing to click trace.
