There was a great line when Joel had gone upriver and the new doctor was working in town. They met one afternoon on a rocky river beach to hit a few golf balls. The new guy's ball goes into the undergrowth and Joel says "Bummer. Devil's Club." Hilarious to those of us from the Northwest who have tangled with the stuff. Such a great understatement, making it all the better.
