I actually saw a Mudcatter cite the Prime Directive from Star Trek once (without directly crediting Star Trek) as the moral imperative behind a decision that should have been taken, in that Catter's opinion-- completely seriously. As though a vast number of people live by it in completely harmonious agreement. As if it's not a TV show fiction.
I mean, it's a great directive, but the way it was used as a foundation was really creepy! Not sure who/what we were assumed to be worshipping, if anything, but it was weird to see a cult based on TV-watching become an assumption that one not only COULD live the reality, or SHOULD live the reality, but that "WE" ALL DO.
