I spent several months in or near a similar condition -- I had ignored a bad case of pneumonia until it was almost too late and it took two quart bags of fluids and one of antibiotics to snap me out of it. Even so I was as weak as a kitten in a surfzone for months.

But I did get to take some interesting peeks over the Mortailty horizon. I concluded that the body's memetic field is VERY distorted and that this must be one of the reasons losing a body is so disorienting -- it's like a media-addict, thinking the world is as shown on TV, and then unexpectedly having his set die and having to deal with reality directly, instead.

NPR had an interview today with a man in W. Vga whose house is surrounded by 12 satellite dishes and who is planning on a 13th. He has access to over 5000 channels. Asked how many TVs he had, he replied, "only 3!".

Another report stated that the AVERAGE American citizen spends over 4 hours, channel surfing. PER DAY!!

I do less than that in a year, but I spend time web surfing and reading.
