Hi Guest,
I am perhaps a little older than you. I graduated high school in 1959. I first heard this song done by the late Dinah Shore on her weekly TV show back in the 1950s. I loved the music very much. In addition my mother was a big fan of Maurice Chevalier so that piqued my interest even more. I have since discovered a different version of this song as sung in the UK. It is the same tune, about the same subject matter, but has different words. It has about 5 stanzas. I believe that it originated in France and was translated into English. I have it in the form of a midi-karaoke file which was sequenced by Dr.James Pitt-Payne & Bunty Pritcard Jones of the UK. If you wish, I can e-mail the file to you and to anyone else on this forum who would be interested. You will need a midi-karaoke player such as VanBasco, which can be dowloaded from the web free of charge, to play and view it.
