So young and full of enthusiasm, and there he is, trying to change a party that is so, well...conservative. The average age of party members is over 70, don't forget. With Blair it took a year of hard fighting and the pain of the clause IV issue finally to change things, and even that was the culmination of a long process that started with Kinnock and continued with John Smith. Poor old Cameron's inherited a bunch of lunatics prone to fighting like rats in a sack, who believe what's written in the Express and the Mail and who aren't really used to thinking about change in a positive light. He's got his work cut out.
