Hi,

Today at 3pm eastern time, I will host the annual WFDU-FM TRADITION's CHRISTMAS PARTY. Since 1980 (or was it 1979?) I have put together a special program of seasonal music on the Sunday before Christmas. I started this show as an antidote to all the commercial standards that radio was offering at the time. The commercial standards have only become worse over time, and I am so pleased that the folk community have issued some real gems over the years.

The show will be live and I am not 100% sure of everyone that I will play, but I know that there will be holiday offerings from artists like the Watersons, the Weavers, Pete Seeger, Joel Mabus, Burl Ives, Odetta, Jean Ritchie, Linda Russell, Tom Prasada-Rao, Magpie, Nowell Sing We Clear and others.   I will also dedicate the show to the memory of John Langstaff and share some moments from the Christmas Revels.

In addition, I will be playing the Ed McCurdy song "Miracle of the Wheat". There is an interesting history to this Christmas song and I will share the story on the air. I am getting numerous requests for this song from folks in the Cincinnati area - an unusual request for a radio station based in the NYC area! I will explain why on the show.

Also, if there are any Mudcatters that would like to make a request, simply send me a PM or post it here. I will try to play whatever I can.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
