Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I was amazed at the reaction to yesterday's show. I received quite a few e-mails from listeners in the Ohio area due to an Ed McCurdy Christmas song I played. The song was apparently a staple of a Cincinnati radio station during the holidays, but after the DJ passed away the recording was lost. Somehow people found out that I had a copy and now I get requests from the Ohio area! The power of the internet!
Unfortunately, we are not able to archive all of our shows. We had plans to make each show available, but there have been legal obstacles because music publishers and the record industry want to get a piece of the pie for any music that is made available for a download. The costs are prohibitive at this point.
What we are currently able to make available are performances and talk shows that are recorded in our studio. With the permission of the artist, we can offer this type of programming and we will be doing more of it in the coming year.
As for recording live-streams, there are several ways to do it. Open Mike mentioned the easiest way, but it sounds like your sound recorder has some sort of limit as to the length of the program you can record. I use a program called Cool Edit which allows me to record any incoming stream for as long as my hard drive can fit the file. It sounds like you need to look at your program to see if there is a way to increase the length.
I promise that next year I will alert people a bit earlier. I have such a wonderful time producing this particular show, which airs on the Sunday before Christmas (the next show should be on 12/24/06 from 3 to 6pm). I have been doing this since 1980, and the first few years were rather difficult to find enough GOOD traditional music to fill the time. Now, I receive about 10 new holiday CD's each year. I could easily fill a 24 hour show with good music! This year I added a few "contemporary" songs from artists like Darryl Purpose, Tom Prasada-Rao and Christine Lavin. I also played some of our favorites, including the classic recording from our own Kytrad! Thank you Jean for recording such wonderful music!
Again, my thanks to all of you for your interest and support. See you next year!
