Thread Name: BS: Green and blue clicky things
Subject: Tech: Green and blue clicky things
Hi, McGrath - the "green clicky things" (er...links) at the top of Forum messages are a doo-dad Max set up to link songs mentioned in threads to recordings of the song at the Mudcat Store. I don't know about the store's overseas shipping policies, but I'm sure arrangements can be made. The store helps defray Max's costs - he spends a lot to keep us online. The store also helps people know about all the good recordings that are available.
The colors of the links can vary. I think most browsers have blue set as the default color for links, and then the links turn an ugly greenish color (cyan?) when yoou've visited the site they link to.
For the "shop" links, Max changed the color to green, although some browsers may be set to override that fashion choice.
And while we're on the subject of clicky things, let me give a sample for all you good people out there:

<a href=http://www.mudcat.org/>Click here</a>

(Note that I do not use quotation marks in links. They're not needed here at Mudcat and in most HTML situations, and they tend to make a mess of a thread if you forget the closing quote marks. should I change my ways and instead start nagging people to be sure to include the closing quotation marks within HTML tags? I dunno. I think that if you keep your HTML simple, you're less likely to makes mistakes and more likely to detect mistakes while proofreading, so I suggest leaving out the quotes.)
