Subject: Tech: colors and font size on browsers
I've been wondering what settings I can change on my browser that will make reading easier without radically changing the way Web pages look. My browser of choice is MSIE (Microsoft Internet Explorer). I hadn't thought of it until just now, but the 'Cat has been a bit more of a strain to read lately. I was thinking I might have to go out to the 99-cent store for a new pair of reading glasses. Instead, I went to the "View" menu at the top of my browser, and changed the "text size" option to "larger." Now everything looks like bold type, but it's sure easier on the eyes. There are similar settings changes you can make on Netscape, and both browsers allow you to make more radical changes if you like. However, if you change colors and things other than type/font size, you may have trouble viewing some pages. Normal text may become easier to read if you change background colors, but it may be that links will become invisible to you. -Joe Offer-
Bill, that link you gave is certainly technical, but it sure is interesting. Thanks for giving it to us. I think that page (click) talks about long-term solutions. the software the first poster speaks of is different, I think - it works by downloading things the reader might want to look at. I would think that could contribut to the overall Internet slowdown.
