The history of Mark Trail explains its longevity. Ed Dodd, who created the strip, worked with Dan Beard, founder of The Boy Scouts of America. It is a must read for every Boy Scout and former Scout. Jack Elrod, current cartoonist, was a Boy Scout under Dodd.

Mark Trail is spokesman for the NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) and The National Weather Service.
