The first instrument I truly lusted after was a bombarde. I heard it at a concert when I was about 20, and started grabbing everyone near me and asking what it was called. I have never been that excited about another instrument, ever. I practically tackled the musician as he came off the stage, and he graciously gave me a lesson. The next week I ordered my very own Bb bombarde from Bretagne, to the horror and dismay of all my loved ones. If you've never heard one, it's like a shaum, and has a glorious high volume and piercing tone. You should see the people come running with those first few notes!
