Don't worry- I'm not entering this discussion! However, when I taught basic computer in adult education I came up with a truism that worked. I frequently told students that the reason that the computer is so swift is because it can't *read* and thus doesn't have to slow down for comprehension. Processing only by symbols manually entered into its 'brain', it is far inferior to the rankest beginner's perceptions and ultimate powers.
