Thanks, PP....I had heard of the TTL to CMOS transition, but had forgotten about it as outside my immediate zone of work. The difference, is more of a hardware distinction -- what kinds of transistors are used, and what voltage levels are used to signal high/low states.

The "logical methods" in the abstract are constant, as far as I can see, the logic being entirely predicated on two-state reasoning.
