Thread Name: Dr. Demento radio show archives
Subject: Dr. Demento radio show archives
Most of the internet sites that had the archives of the past Dr. Demento radio shows have been shut down or the audio archives have been removed. There is still one site available with some recent MP3 files for free download at: http://mocha.net/?cat=10
If anyone here is looking for a more complete collection, there is a Yahoo based group, of which I'm a member, and we are in the process of sharing our respective personal collections. To join this group, you need to be a member of Yahoo, or you need to join Yahoo. The group is named: jjdementoarchive. To participate in the distributions, you need to add your name and mailing address to the database and go to the poll and add your status. You also need to have a DVD/CD burner in your computer. Depending on the particular distribution, you'll be required to make your own copy plus a second set (or two) to be sent to another participant or two per the instructions provided.

I've taken part in Distribution #1 and #2. Several more are in the works. These disributions are not limited to North America, as several participants are in the UK. To give you an idea of the size of the archives, Distribution #1 contains 4 audio DVDs and Distribution #2 contains 6 audio DVDs. The first two DVDs of Distribution #1 each contain 8 complete 4 hour shows. All the archives so far are in MP3 format. The shows represented are from 1970 to the present, with many gaps. Most of the recordings contained in these archives are long out of print and unavailable elsewhere. I've already found many songs to learn and add to my personal repertoire. I thought this might be of interest to somebody on Mudcat, as there has been mention of Dr. D. in many past threads.
